An interesting thing about ITC Neon is that it is basically (cleverly) derived from Prisma, a Klingspor face that in turn was derived from Rudolph Koch's Kabel.6 -

FWIW, I think among the type designers listed on those two websites, most are still living. It might go without saying, there are more practicing type designers today than at any time in the past.5 -
